Chivalry & Shields
Fundamentals on Social Graces for Children
This program coincides as a branch underneath the Lance C. Anderson Foundation. Through this program, we offer children with the fundamentals they need in terms of social graces. There will be a course for elementary students ages 6-10, and for middle schoolers ages 11-14. It will take place after school, and each session is an hour.
What are social graces and why are they important? Well, social graces are things like learning how to say “thank you,” not interrupting someone who is speaking, table manners, body language, paying attention, maintaining eye contact, etc.
Our goal is to teach those in need of improvement in the area of social graces, and at the end of our program, we will host a gala where the kids can put their newfound skills to use.
Weekly Lessons
This program will consist over the course of a Spring semester at no charge to the parent/guardian. Social graces take a while to learn, so we will take time and establish them well over the course of February through April.
Capstone
Our activities are designed with the intention of putting them to use at an end-of-semester capstone gala. The young men and women will come dressed in a black-tie dress code. The gala will take place at a nonprofit organization in Fort Worth, TX with catering provided so that the children can put their skills into action. The gala will consist of a dance where young men and women will learn to waltz. Dance lessons provided, and parents are welcome to come and chaperone.
